I have been working on this recipe for a while and I finally feel like I have found a great balance of flavors. It is very mildly spicy, so my can kids eat it. This recipe makes a good quantity, you will have enough to to save in a jar for many taco nights to come.
Here’s the recipe:
Taco Seasoning:
4 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp paprika
6 tsp cumin
4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Put all of these ingredients in a jar and then shake!
Ground beef tacos:
olive oil
1/2 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef
2 Tbsp taco seasoning
taco shells
diced tomato
diced onion
shredded lettuce
grated cheese
First saute onion and garlic in olive oil, then add 1 pound of ground beef and cook until browned. Do not discard the oil after cooking, this will make your taco meat extra yummy. I also usually add a 1/2 cup of water, if the mixture has dried out at all. Mix in 2 Tbsp of the finished taco seasoning. Serve in warmed taco shells with tomato, onion, shredded lettuce and cheese.
Enjoy!
