As we enter what scientists are calling The Sixth Mass Extinction, endangered plants need our help more than ever. Loss of species is happening at an alarming pace due to climate change, pollinator decline, mining, and human activity. I’ve put together some resources to get involved quickly and easily.
CENTER FOR PLANT CONSERVATION- CPC safeguards rare plants by advancing science-based conservation practices, connecting and empowering plant conservationists, and inspiring all to protect biodiversity for future generations.
CROP TRUST- An international organization working to conserve crop diversity and protect global food nutrition and security. At the core of Crop Trust is an endowment fund, dedicated to providing financial support to gene banks worldwide.
BOTANICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA– Working to sustain and provide improved formal and informal education about plants.
ENDANGERED SPECIES COALITION- The Endangered Species Coalition’s mission is to stop the human-caused extinction of our nation’s at-risk species, to protect and restore their habitats.
THE NATURE CONSERVANCY- A global environmental nonprofit working to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.
